choosing gears
Hi friens I'm rebuilding a '77 C30 truck, I will swap the inliner with a 96 carb 350sbc. The Dana70 rear end(canadian version) is 4.1:1 and has very much wear, since I have to rebuild I wonder if changing to 3.73 for better mileage and lower highway RPM or keeping 4.1 if somebody can help me feel free to do it:D

If you're running the highway, 3.73 is better that 4.11 for gas mileage.
Everything else constant, your RPMs will be ~9-10% less at any given speed.

me again
Thanks buddy some friends got me confused, one told me 4.1 gears get poor gas mileage and ny brother says 3.73 would result in low pulling poweris that true?
-
....yes with the 3.73's your not going to accelerate as well, or "lower pulling power" as your bro stated. But than as SBC stated; "your gas milage will be better with the 3.73's"..... Bill

373's are one of the best universal gears for a street/strip/highway car you can have should go down the highway about 22-2500 rpm

Thanks friends I'm going to use 3.73 after all must be stronger than six with 4.1 besides with headers and aluminium intake would be fine:D :D :D
