New 355 Trouble Running
This year has been problem after problem with this Nova. Here's deal car starts but will not stay running. You keep your foot in it stay running for little bit. Then shoot flames out carb and quits. I tried several Holley 600 v/s/carbs but same problem. I tried 750 Holley v/s it stayed running , idle real nice but no power. I pulled plugs thought they would wet. Nice tan color and dry. No vacuum leaks. What gives. Is it possible for mechanical fuel pump gone or going to hell.

It's leaning out, that causes the backfire. Pump, filter, plugged or crimped fuel line, etc.

Hard to say but 85% of all carberator complaints are ignition problems. Is the engine properly timed?

Problem Solved
It was the points distributor with accel points coversion. For some reason got short or something make it cross fire. Start shopping for ignition system now. I was going try another cap just to see what happens. Thanks
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
