Im building a 406 for some street/strip action and want my valvetrain to live as long as possible. Ill be running a Comp Xtreme Roller camshaft with about 0.55 lift and will be running the Comp hydraulic retrofit roller lifters. I have heard of cutting a small groove down the lifter bore of the block to let extra
oil get to the roller pin of the lifter. This trick is supposed to prolong lifter life and provide better oiling. Has anyone ever done this. Would you recommend it or should the standard oiling do the job? Comp sells a kit that allows any builder to do this at their home. Are there any drawbacks from cutting a fresh block with these grooves? Thanks!!
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
