I'm no hell expert on either vane power or exhaust power. But another option may be the Procharger which I think bolts in, in place of your aircon pump. Or the Australian Terra Charger which is a similar set up. Both use their own oil and dont produce anywhere the heat that a roots type blower does. They also sit under the bonnet.
