Chevy 350 Numbers
I am trying to find out what year Chevy 350 I have here that going in my highboy project. I've been on all the different sites that list the casting and stamped numbers but still don't know for sure. The block casting number is 14093638 which comes up as '87-'95 with a one piece seal. The heads are 14102193 which are '87 up. The stamped number on the front of the block is V1031PHA, V=Flint, 1031 =Oct 31 but can't find PHA, anyone know? Also, where the date code is supposed to be, above the oil filter and in front of the bellhousing all that is stamped there is a 1, that's it. My pickup with a 350 has a complete serial type number there but this engine just has the 1. Does that mean it's a '91??
Thanks, Bruce

The code PHA is listed in MSA-1 Engine Suffix Code book as belonging to a 1995 truck 350 with throttle body injection, a 700R4 transmission, either a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton body, L-05 engine option with 210 horsepower.

Chevy 350 Numbers
Mike,
Thank you VERY MUCH for the info!!! When I purchased this engine 10 years ago for a future project I was told it was from a rolled over '95 pickup that had 5,000 miles on it. The engine is spotless but as I get closer to using the engine I had started to wonder if it really was from a '95.
Clubhotrod and the folks on it are great!
Thanks again,

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
