    engine choice?

Need advice. Have a '31 chev full fendered 2drsdn ready for an engine. Set up for a 350/350. it had a '68 350 in it that stuck from moisture/rust. Hard to come by these vintage engines now. Should I continue looking or would I be able to use a newer engine ,say a 305 or 350 from the late 80's? Money is an object and I am looking for a running engine. I have the water pump etc. from '68 350.
    ANY ADVICE MUCH APPRICIATED> THANKS

Is there not a big choice of salvage yards where you live? Is you engine so badly locked up it can't be rebuilt?
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

How tight is money? New bowtie crate engines 350/260hp for about $1500 with upto a 36 month/36k warranty (for 1985 and older cars). You'll need the add on goodies like a carb and intake, w-p, harmonic balancer, headers, distributor, plugs and wires, etc. Some of those things may be available from your existing block. But you will have a fresh engine with warranty, no junk. Or if not check out e-bay or the many fine bone yards in the great Northeast.
