Can anyone tell us what type of mods you would have to do to a 350 to put a 3400lb car in the 11 second bracket for the 1/4mi. Assuming a auto tranny and then a stick? Hope this makes for an entertaining thread. Thanks.

You need about 500 flywheel HP to do that.
Horsepower Calculator
Tell ya, if ya cant find the answer here .... there just ain't no answer for it. Thanks.
all it would take is alot of money. 3400 is a bit heavy good set of pistons like srp /je /ross /mahle. rods h beams good block steelcrank and a set of good heads roller cam and spray to low 11s
You need a lot lighter car..........................
It takes more then an engine to get a 3400 pound car in the 11's. It takes some good suspension back and front, the right transmission, converter, gears, and chassis work. The engine is probably the easiest part of the whole deal. Getting it to launch hard without a lot of tire spin and stop safely at the other end will take some work and it will all take a lot of $$$$$
fill the car with 100 dollar bills when empty it may run 11s:whacked:
Bad Pat ,Bad Pat!!!Quote:

I've got another.
Bolt on a 8-71 blower.
There that was simple.
Oh,the car is not tubbed.
Never mind.:whacked:
i will sell you a 50chevy 548 blown it should run easy low 11s draging the car you want to run 11s
...and I don't have a 3400lb car to put in the 11's, but I have had the pleasure on many nights to watch the cars at US 131 Martin, Mi. and have seen alot of bigger chevys haulin bootie. I just wondered what it might take technically ( in a smallblock) to get a big chevelle down in the 11-12 second bracket. :)
Let's make this more difficult.
I have an old "slant six" Mopar.
I think if we all put our heads together we can build a 11 sec car.
"If you build it they will come" L.O.L.:whacked:
it could be done did know of a car that would run in street trim 12.30 that did not have a lot in it and was 3500+ with driver . like i said NOS would get you to the 11s hard to say were in the 11s
why yes a rail job i will go get a alum ladder for the frame :whacked: :whacked: :whacked:Quote:

This is true.Quote:

Do you think we could install a set of "down nozzle injectors" on a slant six head???**)
why not lets fill the block make a soild alum head and run nitro :whacked: and i will make the oil pan out of 1/4 steel to catch the$hit flying out of the pan :eek:Quote:

ok it a deal lets go:D i can do the pan the headers and some of the machine work i am sure we can find parts that we can make fit i have some 4.625 bore piston ? think it can be sleeve out that far:whacked: :LOL:Quote:

start with a old early 70's four bolt block with a 4340 with a 3.75 stroke crank and h- beam rods so it becomes a 383.
This is a race engine so lets shove the comp. ratio up to say 13 to 1.
You will need good heads say a 200 or 210 cc port volume for a starting point.
Lets look at mech. roller cams that have .900 base so you don't have to worry about clearence issues at the cam it's self.
In a cam this size I like the old 4-7 swap.
Lets say 270/278 at .050 and .650/.650, 106 l/s with this cam you should make power to 7,500.
Run a Victor with a 2 inch spacer, flowed 750 double pumper.
Run a 5.13 gear with a 5,000 stall and a brake.
If you can hook it up it will run 11's.
This should work.
Now I have to get back to building the "slant six" that is going to blown and injected.
Where did I put that short block.

I swear, you two are the reason I paid my internet bill last month. Thanks Eric, that was interesting. Pat I know you can sqeeze it out to 5.00" on the nose ,if ya try.
There are a few of us that think we know what we are doing.Quote:
