Thought of that. The down side there is the cost of parts. You can buy 5.7 hot rod parts for next to nothing vs. the more exotic motors. Thats the main reason I am all about the 4.3. Ease of finding parts and cost. Being there just a 350 with two less cyl. you can do almost any piston\rod combo you could think of with little to no headache. I just need to find out more for the crank prob.
