running hot
I Have A 1987 S-10 Blazer I Ordered A 4-bolt Main Vortec 350 From Gm It Came With A Street Domanator Intake Already Machined To Fit The Engine,so When I Put It Together I Used The Old V Style Belts And Old Style Water Pump The Truck Runs Great But In The Summer I Have To Run A 160 Degree Thermostat To Get It To Run 190 Degrees.and It Will Still Run To Hot On Longer Trips Or If Im Pulling A Long Hill.now I Have Been Told That The Vortec Engines Water Pump Turns Counter Clockwise But Mine Is Running Clockwise Does This Matter Or Could This Be What Is Causeing My Hot Problem?
P.s.i"ve Already Put In A New 4-row Radiator.

i don't know which way its suppose to turn, but if it was turning the wrong way i think it would run hot all the time. i've seen that done and they run hot in the shop. what kind of fan are you running?

i run a lt1 in my s10, with a 195 degree thermostat and it runs that temp with ac on in the summer. running 1 electric fan. sounds like a air across the rad. problem. may have rad. blocked with fans.

Mike, in your opinion, which electric fan is the best, a puller or a pusher? Just seems like a puller would be, just because would not be blocking the natural air into the radiator.

Maybe the air isn't getting out of the engine compartment. Try running it without the hood, that'll show you if that's the problem.

puller when possible. i use the Ford Torus fan and run it on low. no problem.

It would seem that if you are running the old style pump then it is running the correct direction. What do you have for a radiator, and what kind of condition is it in????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
