if your compression is stable, then go ahead and do a cam swap, head wise, rip them apart, check the seats, have a fresh grind put on them and check the conditon of the valve guides. doesnt hurt to freshen them up, additional work is going to depend on the camshaft selection. have fun with it, good learning experience to see the gains you will receive with the cam swap and re ring.old habits die hard
