give me the stroke length and I'll put it into my dyno program. I read a 305 build on the internet that used a lot of common parts and netted 327 Hp, not bad really.
i guess you talkin bout 3.75
One thing to remember is the stock 400 crank uses a 2.65 main and the 305/350 uses a 2.45 main.Quote:

I've also seen, just don't remember where it was, there is now a package out to stroke a 305 out to 340... With the right heads and valve train, could be interesting. I've done a couple Ford 347 strokers. They won't run with the 408's, but they do run strong!!!!

I wonder what the dollar per HP ratio is for a stroked 305, there does not seem to be a great gain to be had from doing it.
Unless your are just dying to stroke a 305 and don't care how much it costs, there are much cheaper ways to go about making horse power.
It would seem better judgement to find a cheap 350 and spend the same rebuild money on a 383.

If you are wanting to stroke bore and buy heads pistons rods etc....I would look to the 350 block not the 305.The 305s strong point is cheap and plentiful,once you do the whole nine yards to it you loose the cheap part.At the end of the day you will have spent the same money on way less performance than a 350. I would do a intake ,cam and header upgrade to the 305 and call it good,I would not spend all that cash on a 305,because unless you stick your head between the firewall and motor to see casting numbers you will not know its a 305 untill you want to race someone then you will know its a 305:LOL:
The small bore on these blocks makes big hp numbers harder than a 4 inch bore block.Plus you can build the 350 and still drive around,then do the swap in one weekend and be driving again.You are looking at a minimal of 30 days down with machine work and ordering parts for the 305,because you cant really order pistons till the blocks bored and so on with the rest of the build.
Do what you like ,....but you will not be gettin the best value for your dollar and will have to tell everyone its a 305 because it will look just like my 383 that cost the same as your 305 stroker and will smoke your stroker motor big time!!!

Already E-Mailed him what I did on my 305.
I had about $3300 in a 377 (destroked 400). I can promise you your stroked 305 won't touch it in power and wouldn't be much cheaper. Most of that was machine work and aftermarket heads. I ran 11s with a full interior and a wore out 3.73 posi in a 86 monte ss (similar car)
read up on what the bore/stroke ratio and rod length do for power production and how they affect the rpm range its good for

Well, I have a 350 roller cam block for one Camaro. Thinking more like putting a stroked 305 in an S-10 or something. BTW, the 334 stroker kits were available thru Northern for about $400.00. For a little engine, that isn't bad. My only reason for doing it is because (as Erik said) all the parts are laying in the garage.Quote:

BTW Erik, both the BB Ford cars were firmly in the 10's this year. Learned a lot with them on the chassis dyno last spring, Roger and Rodney were both very satisfied with their performance. They're thinking about going to the big bracket race in Bradenton, Fl., believe it's in February??? Non electronics bracket is supposedly going to pay 5K to win both days this year!!!!!

I had a little help from my boss in the setup. he campaigned a t/a dragster with a sbc and a glide. My boat wasn't a very reliable street car. 11.5 comp long rods, dart heads, dynoed over 500 ponies, was nos ready, backed by a 400 with 3000 stall and everything but the interior was stripped. weighed ~2700 iirc, it was 8 years ago when I sold it. I have a friend with a consistant 11 second SS, street driven slicks on the weekends, simple 406 with proper setup. There are plenty 9 and 10 second 5.0s out there, makes my old pos really not that impressive.
