I think the cam your talking about is a Xtreme energy XE256H-10 Dur. .050 212-218 Lift .447.454 110 degree lobe. This a little better than your stock cam. I went one cam better with a 218/224 Dur. 050 lift .462-.469 which gives me a pretty good chop at idle. Your will also have to change your lifters, springs, etc. on your heads so get the complete kit from Comp. What carbs are you running? With mine bored out .060 over and that cam with headers I couldn't run anything over 500 cfm and even then when the other one kicks in your getting to much fuel for that engine. Your better off running a single 600 cfm carb.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

You should be in great shape with that cam as far as clearance also because 'most' 305 heads will allow about .460 lift before running into clearance problems. And according to a VERY POPULAR magazine editors comment 'some' of the 305 heads will flow as good or better than 'some' factory 350 heads. Should produce decent torque for a street vehicle.
Hey has that thing gotta Heme in it? No, it's a shevy not heme!

The 600 carb is to large.
CID X MAX. RPM divide by 3456.
Of course this 600 carb. will work if you turn the engine to 6,800.

I built a 335" stroker, my camshaft selection was a custom grind based on an isky 270 mega cam......221@ .050" 471" lift on a 108 LSA. the tight lsa, helps built cylinder pressure. This is a single pattern grind, works awesome. I think if I went any bigger it would be on the verge of over cammed. Stock 416 castings were heavily ported and polished. If you want a choppy idle this cam has it in the 305, but it needs a high stall convertor and gear as well as spring upgrade. It sure is a fun car to drive and turns heads when cruising....
