Stroking a 350
I would like to stroke the 350Vortec in my 2000 4X4 pickup for torque purposes, mainly. I don't want to put a bunch of money into it but I would like some pulling power!
What is involved?

Just go for a 383 stroker kit, that should cure the torque shyness."aerodynamics are for people who cant build engines"

That's a bit of a rare combination, I hear that they rev out, Had any experience with one ? They had to use the special thick main bearings to drop the stock 350 crank into the 400 block. I wonder if scat, cat or eagle do special big main 350 cranks ?Last edited by southerner; 10-19-2006 at 11:28 PM.

If you want torque, just get a 400. Cheaper and better than mixing and matching odd bits, and for a truck engine, the 400 will outpull 383's and 377's all day.
There are main bearing saddle liners available to put 350 mains in a 400 block.

Here's a 391 kit from Speed-O-Motive. Call 'em up and discuss it.

Torque is what you feel, had s.b. 400 in 29 roadster, package weighted 2150 running. Probably only ~230-250 h.p. but it was one of the fastest cars I ever had for 0-80 mph ,( I ve had over 300 vehicles in 40 yrs not bragging just putting in perspective) put r.v. cam in it got even stronger- rpm limit 4500 but didnt need rpm w/ all the torque. 31 5w
well I decided to do another mod to gain max travel of bars past the intended travel points just for that peace of mind. 1/8 inch is to close so now I'll have 1/2" or better. I cut a 3/16" wall...
