    HEI vacuum advance ?

Hey guys. My vacuum advance can is broke. The engine is a 1965 283 but it has a HEI distributor in it. I don't know what year the distributor is. All the parts stores I go to want a year and make. I don't even know when GM went to the HEI, even if I did I don't know if the vacuum can is the same. Any help would be appreciated,
    Kevin
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Moroso sells an adustable one for about $20 that fits 75-81 applications.

Thanks erik, I don't know what year HEI I have so I don't know if the the one you mention (75-81 applications) will fit. Is there a way I can determine the year of the distributor?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Thanks Denny, I'll look for the numbers tomorrow.
BTW when I put this distributor in, is there an easy way to know when #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke. My valve covers are already on so I can't see my valve train.
    Thanks,
    Kevin
