    71 nova oil pan swap...

     



    Just bought a 71 v8 nova for my son. seems the oil pan is too close on the bottom to the oil pick up. Can this pan be removed without pulling the engine?

    Yes, you have to unbolt the engine mounts and jack the motor up so the pan will clear the crank when you slide it out.

    Is it causing the motor to get oil starvation? I don't see how a pan that's close to the pump could cause a problem..

    Not enough oil in the pan?

    If the pickup is loose.. you're going to have to have it welded to the pump; that pickup is NOT supposed to move.
