odered msd wires, new rotor and cap (msd) had accel cap and rotor let you know what happens
And a MSD 6A to go with it would help LOTS.
an msd box is overkill.... an HEI would work plenty good
Burning a higher percent of the fuel charge in a cylinder is overkill :HMMM:Quote:

I have an extra set of wires I am going to try tonight after cleaning the plugs completely.
I had considered MSD, but like the simplicity of HEI, and it must work, because many people run them.
Interested to see what your result is. Keep us updated.
FYI - here is a picture of my HEI and wire setup (wires very close together, and one on the cap touches the air cleaner assembly when installed). Is it possible that if plugs are excessively black (I have just fixed the rich problem) that they would be less likely to fire? I'm getting frustrated. Installed the Jeep engine this last winter and haven't driven it more than 20 minutes total.

okay put new 8.5 msd wires ,cap and rotor on, plugs cleaner after run to town ,still have flat spot or bog on take off, timing 10,vac 19 , seems to load up with gas ,phoned edlebrock they say i might have to jet down(new 1406)
i am wondering if it is carb or distribuutor springs ?after 1700 rpm she goes, but not from stading start.
does she smell rich to you? you should smell it clearly if you've got a rich condition..... if you have a lean condition you wont smell much gas at all...
automatic , plugs set at 45,new hei with adjustable vac advance hooked to manifold, jegs says to start vac advance at 4 turns i am up to six now,4 turns give 7" dist.or 14" eng. at 12"vac, have to check vac. in gear don,t know what it is
soup
yes to thesals it does smell rich
well if it smells rich then that can cause bogging down on the accelleration too, you flood the cylinders... you might just have to lean it out a little bit
hey i have a just rebuilt 355 and took it for a spin and did ok i checked the #1 plug and it was firing but very black what does this mean
hey denny vac is 14.5 - 15 in gear, put accellerator pump linkage back to middle position on edlebrock ,less squirt , seems to of helped on take off ,but still smells rich at idle, might have change jets and rods ?
idle speed out of gear 1000 rpm , in gear is 725 -750 rpm
hit it right on the note denny...
