i have a bit of a delema. and i want to see what you guys think i should do. i have a 74 350 that has small valves and a new extreme energy 268 cam in it.i broke a valve spring and put the valve through the piston the lifters look brand new also i pulled them out and numbered them to there corresponding valves.in the meen time i piurchased a 87 350 with 76cc 194 valve heads that has just nbeen rebuilt.im going to use the cam in the new motor and put it in my camaro.the problem i have is do i buy a 2000 12" converter or use the stock one?is there that much difference between the two?when the old motor was in the car with the stock converter it seemed to be fine. but would the 2000 stall improve what i already have?its only a hundred dollar question...but why waste the money or will i?any body use this cam with a stock tc?GLENN
you can do it if you know how it works

First off, don't re-use the lifters in a different block. Toss 'em and install new ones on the cam. If you were going back into the same block, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but the lifter bores of the other block will be different enough that you'll likely encounter problems. Just my opinion.
The stock converter will work with that cam, but you'll get a lot better "seat of the pants" feel of acceleration with a little looser converter. My best guess is that the stock one will stall about 1,200-1,400.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

I would probably call TCI and tell them my set-up including car weight, gears etc. and that I am shopping for a converter. They will be happy to recommend the right converter on the phone with you.
