    timing problems

     



    having truble gitting 350 to run right keeps missing , I think i need to pull the distributer and start from scatch, but never node it befor, please help me

    You might take a look at this old thread Got Time?? to start with. If it's running, and just missing, I don't think you should try pulling the distributor.

    If you didn't pull it before it started running bad and can't set the timing then chances are it won't help to pull it now. It could be your timeing chain. or any number of other things what is your curent problem. backfires? won't start? We could use a clue

    backfires, hesitates, deisels out, idles rough. just can't get it right


    P.S. I have my father inlaw looking at it, he drag races every year for fun and money. thanks for the advice and hope to hear back from all of u soon

    sounds like it might need to be advanced a little bit if its dieseling, time to pull out a timing light and find out
    just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

    check wires,carb,but sounds like a timing issue how advance is the timing or how much behind ,does your carb have a choke? go to www.super chevy .com they have some info that mite help you if not hit me up"

    You're welcome brickman, but C9x deserves all the credit. I just remembered the name of the thread and found it in a search. He did another good one recently on vacuum sources and timing.

    i found out what the problem was. A/F mix screw tip was broke off.
    getting new ones this week. thanks for all the help, hope to hear from u all soon.
