Found the problem, DO NOT BUY ADVANCE AUTO PARTS REMAN MOTORS. Took the heads off and checked the numbers. It seems they installed one head off a 305 and one head off a 350. The valves were different sizes and I'm pretty sure the springs are too. You'd figure for about 1300 you would have some kind of gaurantee that the long block would be ok just to put in and run and not have to be torn down and checked.
