Gassersrule 196,I got the motor today, around 6pm. At 8pm I started tearing it apart. And after seeing the intake and head intake ports I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would go thru the trouble and expense of boring and souping one of these motors. Now back in the 60's,early 70's yeah I remember and understand why then, but now??? Evidently your interest is either in original resto or just the 283 crank/rods. But hey,I can respect and understand that. As a matter of fact,I wouldn't trade this crank(for 302 purposes) for a complete 383,but thats imo and I know alot of people would ridicule that. Look,I am getting down to the bare block tommorrow,if it's in good shape I'll probably put it up on e-bay and local tradin-times for sale.Your interest in these motors is probably smarter than most of us,,,if you are doing it as a collector/investor. 20 yr's. from now, this little 283 will probably be worth several thou's.Hey has that thing gotta Heme in it? No, it's a shevy not heme!

It would be nice if this up and down crap would cease.
