The dye is to show me where I have to fly- cut. If I have to, not to show how close the valve is to the piston.I don't use the dye to check for clearence just to show location.Originally posted by lt1s10
which is thicker, dye, or .070 plastergauge? you also said "It sure sounds like a lot of work taking the heads on and off the engine" so i assumed from that you didnt use anything, because it was to much trouble to pull the heads off to check????
