    sorry if this sounds silly just purchased 1976 camaro with 400 small block dont know much about 400 are they quick or can they be ?

    Anything can be made quick.If you have enough money or time.The 400 SBC suffers from short rods and siamesed cylinders that can lead to a hot engine and blown head gaskets.If you re-build a 400 I would never go beyond .030 over bore.Put in very good head gaskets make sure the block and the heads are flat.I would also change the stock 5.565 rod to 5.7 rods.
