    95 5.7 Tbi

Have a co-workers p/u needing a freshen. He would like 300hp&350tq or so. He is aware he may have to change heads. Wants to spend a few grand or less. Any suggestions on some combos that could do this? Somthing that does not sound like a sucking hole with no go, thats what he's got. Tres..

simple lil vortech headed rebuild with a cam for computer controlled engines like the XE249H grind, part no.12-249-4 from comp or a similiar one from any other cam company. For best results on cam choice, call them up and go over all specs. The heads are where the horse power will come from.

To save from having to modify the original intake or buying a new one, you could also look at some S/R torquer heads or some street legal aluminum castings like the Edelbrock Performer heads. I didn't look it up but I think they are C.A.R.B. approved. One advantage of aluminum over cast is you can get away with a little bit more compression before having to run premium gas because there are fewer hot spots due to thermal effiency. I would say a 9.0:1 CR limit for iron and 9.5:1 CR limit on aluminum would let you run the lessor expensive gas. A grand in heads is money well spent for HP.

Have bluethunder heads on my 460- 400cfm heads. I just dont know the tbi's. My daily truck is a 60kmi 86gmc 4x with a fresh -3kmi-194 /72cchead/ full bolt on 5.7w rv cam. Tows my falcon around well and will burn up expensive tires. So how much @.050 for the tbi 220,230.more...roller I hope....found some iron torqrs for $500 un-assembled.

TOO MUCH DURATION, for a tbi setup. 212 is about max but the cam tech could recommend better.

On those heads, that's pretty high for unassembled. Check out Ebay stores for a set of assembled small top line for cheap. I think I seen them for 376.00 or 476.00 don't remember.
