Lot of conflicting suggestions on this board - and often from the same people.

On the one hand they say "Build your own motor so you can have it the way you want it". On the other hand they poo poo you when you decide to do just that based upon the ability this provides to do it just a little better then the mass produced guys.

If you want to squeek the last possible bit of compression on pump gas to get the most efficiency out of your motor, you need to deal with quench, chamber polish, correct cam, etc.

I you are just going to throw together any old hack, then save yourself some time and money and just buy a low compression crate motor.
