    Which Harmonic Balancer?

hi, im currently building a 357 and need 2 know what to do for a harmonic balancer.

    my specs are

    2500-6500 RPM
    10.3 compression
Forged eagle full floating rods (5.7)
    Forged eagle crank

what harmonic balancer should i get? size? brand? what if i just get a decent stock one and send it in with everything else when i get everything rebalanced?

You can get a premium quality rebuilt damper from these guys. They'll rebuild yours or sell you a rebuilt one. You need to know where your timing tab is (12:00 o'clock, 2:00 or 2:30) and the diameter of the damper.

No Ross, by rebuilt I mean they have had new elastomeric material pressed in between the hub and the outer ring. That material breaks down over time from ozone and oil/grease and sometimes allows the outer ring to rotate in relation to the inner hub. This throws the timing all to hell when you try to time the motor with a light. We've been through several threads lately explaining to newbies how to use a piston stop on an assembled motor to find TDC on the damper because the ring has slipped. Of course, once it slips, it's probably going to keep slipping. The fix is to press new material between the ring and hub and re-clock the TDC mark back to factory. Damper Dudes will rebuild your damper for about 50 bucks. You can't afford NOT to do it.

If you have lots to choose from, just inspect the rubber layer for cracks and deterioration, and pick a good one.
