    vortec heads

     



    kinda new to working on cars

    i have a 71nova 350 edelbrock intake and carb 650 got a comp cam mild racing cam installed and i dont know what kind of heads are on right now im GUESSING stock heads but im not sure any way of finding out please tell me ?

    what i was wondering is how much hp do you think im running right now? and if i put vortec cast iron heads on ... how much hp would it put it up to.

    You need to get the casting numbers from the heads to find out.

    Once you write them down do a search for GM casting numbers or Gm head casting numbers.

    Need to know more about your engine to estimate Hp. What size cam, what exact intake, Holley or Ed carb, bored?

    A vortec head will have valve covers with 4 bolts in the center as well as a sawtooth pattern (3 triangles) on the front of the head. If the sawtooth is not present, it is not a vortec.
