Question to build or not to build

In the past I have been planing on building my own small block.
I have a real good 4 bolt main block with a forged crank. But looking into it now I see lots of different companys building them. And also offering a 30,000 mile warrenty with it.
If I build it myself I have no warrenty.
What is your opinion, to buy or to build.?
    Thanks

Build that puppy. There is no greater satisfaction than running down the road under power you built yourself.

    Depends.....

Personally I enjoy building engines (good therapy especially when you open the box and find out they sent you the wrong main bearings )

When I was doing it for customers, I built the hi performance engines, but for a bread and butter daily driver or slightly warmed over street motors (cam, header, intake type stuff) there was no way I could match the factory crate engine price or warranty.

Just depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.

If you have time, confidence and plenty of patients by all means build your own engine. "Do It". Take the time to research and build it once and build it right. The Crates offer people the security of a warranty. On the other hand, I've heard of folks having problems getting builders/manufacturers of crates to honor their warranties.

    whats your oppinion

Should I build a 383 stroker kit. Or just keep
it a stocker on the inside with some aluminum heads. And
    fuel injection.
I would just like a freeway cruzer.
    Thanks
