    180 or 200cc Runners

Building a 10 to 1 compression 350 and was wondering if I should use heads with 165, 180, or 200cc intake runners with a 292 duration 501 lift camshaft? Would you recommend Dart Iron Eagles or World Products Sportsmans? What intake would go with the combo also? Thanks

This can be tricky you want to match everything up from:air cleaner to your mufflers, meaning that if you put to big of heads
on and a small carb with open type header you have just lost or choked your motor.

Smaller runners in the heads will allow you to build torque at a lower rpm but will limit top end horsepower. Larger runners will fall on their face at low rpm's, but build more high-end horsepower. Go through these dyno runs and see if you can make a choice. Pay attention to the cubic inches and the rpm where the maximum torque comes in.

AFR makes some excellent small runner heads for the street that make a lot of hp on top, too. 2nd page of combos has a 195 cc runner (reasonable for street) head that makes close to 500hp on 9.5:1 compression.

I agree with 76 GMC 1500. The AFR heads seem to work well. AFR
use to make 180, 190 & 195 cc runner heads. They stopped making the 190 cc ones cause the 180 flowed just about as good as the 190's. The 195 cc were actually just 190 cc runners opened-up to match the Edelbrock Victor Jr. manifold. I think I'd use the 180 cc with an Edelbrock Performer Air Gap Manifold. It will work very well in the RPm range of your 292 cam. A 750 cfm Holley will work well here also. Look at Holley #4779, it's a double pumper and I've had very good luck with them on the ddyno and on the street.
