    heads or intake problem.

Ok, i have a 62 to 65 327. i got a set of pro comp heads and a professional products crosswind intake. The heads are standard, not vortec, but the spread between the heads is slightly wider than the intake. is it a cheap intake or error on the heads? any suggestions.

Never heard of that intake before. Do you have a stock intake to see if it fit the heads? If so you have an intake problem. On the other hand are you sure that someone didn't angle mill the heads and not the intake surface of the heads.

mike, are you saying that the bolt holes don't line up?

I think these "crosswind intakes" are similar in design with the more recognized Edelbrock "Air Gap" intakes. The plenum is separtated from the runners to get cooler air underneath.

Mike they do make both GenI and Vortec versions of these intakes.

Do you know them well? If not can you supply a part number from the intake?

I think those intakes are made by our Chinese friends and I find their standards of quality control are somewhat low.

well the intake is the same as the edelbrock air gap but the problem sits between the intake and the heads. i was recently told the block could be decked and it may have thrown it off. i dont know. it seems like a thicker intake gasket would solve it, is there such a thing? and some of the bolt holes dont line up perfectly, they are a touch off. this intake is for stardard heads not voertec. ill check the stock intake later today and see how it sits.. thanks everyone.

well the stock intake sits the same way. the faces of the intake and heads wont sit flush, about a 1/16 of an inch gap between them. The heads are brand new aluminum. but the intake ports on it are huge and the gaskets barely cover the ports and the bolt hole dont line up the greatest either.
