    Question can you help me with my small block chevy

     



    hi, im new to this site and i have a 1967 firebird with a sbc in it. i have been trying to find out what size and any other specs about it but so far i had no luck. can you help me?

    Yank a valve cover off and get the casting number off one of the heads, then get the stamped number on the front passenger side of the block right in front of where the head bolts down to the deck. You may have to remove the alternator to see it. Post those numbers on here and someone will be able to help you identify the motor, at least the basics of the motor. It's anybody's guess what's inside.

    That numbers matches to a 307cid. 1969-1973. 2 bolt mains.

    Well, now you know the heads are off a 307. That doesn't necessarily mean the block is a 307. If it is a 307 block, it's a late model 283 block with a 327 crank. I guess that was General Motor's way of using up all the spare blocks and cranks they had on hand when they changed over to the 350.

    Hey 67,

    That number is the block cast isnt it? Couldnt find heads with that number.

    Sorry, I looked at the Mortec chart wrong. That was a block casting number, thanks s10streeter.
