Are you running a vacuum advance distributor?
If not, you should be.
The vacuum should be sourced to manifold vacuum as well.
Running a centrifugal advance only distributor or a vacuum advance distributor with vacuum selected to ported vacuum will lead to overheating in traffic and at idle most times.C9
