any 327 set up the same way as a 350 will beat it every time. With the short strok you can get higher RPM and rev up faster. If you want to build the 383 go to the junk yard and get a 350 block to start with.

original 68 327s are gettin rare, thats a real piece or roddin history from the late 60s,plus thetres sumthin magical about the bore stroke on those motors.Any 350 can be made into a 383,but a 327 is in a class all its own!!!
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

The quickest, easiest and least costly way to stroke a 327 is purchase a 400 SBC. Never mind the old wives tales about running too hot, ALL 400's were upgraded in 1971, a 1970 can be upgraded by your machine shop. Overdrive the water pump by using pulleys from a mid 80's SBC. This will also speed up alternator ensuring plenty of volts and amps.
Consider a 455 Buick bored .030" with a 200-4R. Check out power from 1970/71 Buicks 500 ft lbs torque, and advertised HP around 365. headers and intake make big gains on these engines. Check out anything about 1970 Buick GS Stage 1.
Or a 500 Inch Cadillac with 200-4R. The caddy only weighs 65 lbs more than your 327. Stock 1970/71 500's made 400 HP and 550 ft/lbs torque. You will throw a lot of money in the hole before your 327 eve gets close to those numbers, plus those caddy's were made for your Granny to drive all day long at 70 mph, in a 4500-5000 pound barge. Take about 1500 pounds out and hang on too your hat. you can get EVERYTHING to switch from a Chevy to Caddy from Cadillac Motorsports, Maximum Torque Specialties, Sanderson Headers, Edelbrock and more.
Sell that 327 to a restorer.
