    Crab-style distributor cap.

I have a set of Accel spark plug wires that I spent (probably) too much money on. Custom cut for a 350 SBC. The problem is, no matter how I arrange them, one or two of the wires is too short. I can't use the wire looms I bought to keep them from forming a rat's nest. Also, in order to reach, some of the distributor boots have to be pulled in tight and they cross over each other. Rather than buying a whole new set that I custom cut myself, I thought I remember seeing a crab-style distributor cap (for a HEI) where the terminals are cross wired so that the spark plug wires are 1-3-5-7 on the left side and 2-4-6-8 on the right.

Anyone seen those around? I've searched the net and Summit with no luck.

I suspect other folks had problems also, because Summit doesn't carry them any more. If I still had the box, I'd return them to Summit.

    Denny,

Summit lists that cap, but I think it's for a standard distributor w/ external coil, not an HEI. Have I got that right?

I did a search too, came up empty. You might give MSD a call Monday morning.

CrossFire is the brand name. they make a stock looking HEI
cap that is rewired inside so that 1357 are on one side and
    2468 the other side.

Thanks guys. It's either that cap or a new set of wires. The Holley spark plug wires are now on my "That sucks" list.

Found it in Parr Automotive's catalog, page 55. Part CRS-4512, $49.95.

    Thanks for the hints, guys.
