so what is the wildest "small" small block combos youve seen (any 283's 327's 350's and 400's.///.. just to bring up sommore disscussion... so far.. the coolest thing ive seen was a 327 (all engine at that ) in an OLDSMOBILE.. with a muncie 4 speed behind it and a ford 9inch... full interior but caged and custom frame... phat tires ... and runs low 9's... its kickass hahaah
its either that or the local 68 around where i live.. its running a 406.. 106 mm turbo and a air to water intercooled.. heheh its hella awsome... fastest ive seen from it was a 8.6 quarter.. amazing.. and it dogged off the line
Yeah, wow ... uh. Guys I hate to break it to you, but it's easy and cheap as all sin to get that horsepower out of a 350. I found a 350 block with a guy that had a 400 crank, and .030 over 10.5:1 pistons with 5.7 rods. with 2500$ i've bought the block, i've bored it out .030 over to a 383, and I have pulled 520 hp without nitrous, and 670 with nitrous out of my IROC-Z. All I have is a mild port job on the 1989 350 IROC-Z heads, an Edelbrock RPM Airgap intake, a built and matched drivetrain with an edelbrock .542 lift roller cam, and a holley 750 on top of it. Mated to it is a slightly built 700-r4 transmission, mated to 3.73 rear gears. Now if you don't want it bored, I pulled 420 hp out a 350 with ported heads and a ford bottom end with a mild cam and 9.7:1 Hyperutectic pistons ... I spent about 1000$ on all that ... so, yeah All this guy needs is a port job with a ford bottom end with a mild cam/valvetrain. He could put a safe shot of nitrous on it and pull maybe over 500 hp. If you know the right places to go, I gurantee you can pull the horsepower you're looking for no problem for about 1500-2000$ I run consistent mid and low 6's in the 8'th mile in my daily driven IROC, and i'm 16 years old and on a budget :)
that lead sled iroc u r talking about with those dogsh&* pistons will never see
500 hp or 6's in the eigth,,especially with a 3.73 gear,u need to sell that somewhere else son,it aint flushing here,course u r 16

Ok, it's this simple dickhead. Take a 350, leave it a 350. Put 9.5:1 Compression pistons in it, Buy Edelbrock Aluminum RPM Heads($1200) RPM Airgap Manifold($206) RPM Cam and lifter Kit ($190) 650 AVS Thunder Series Carb ($336) And you have guarnteed 420 HP out of the box if you bolt these items on to your block, and use the stock 700-R4 Tranny radiator/distributor/ etc.. etc .. Put on like an 1800 RPM Stall with a small hop of nitrous, lower your timing about two degrees from stock, put 4.11's in the back, then tell me what you run in the eighth in an IROC asshole ... In a $3000 500 HP 350.
Ummmm. Are you getting these horsepower numbers off a dyno pull or just pulling them out of the air??? They seem to be a bit on the generous side.

Its not that simple either. I recently sold a 71 Vega,Jegs chassis, fiberglass from end and hatch ,2250 lbs, balanced and blueprinted 350 with a glide,5500 stahl, 12bolt with 536gear,crank trigger, 850 holley.
The last time out at Super Chevy we ran 680, 683,681, back to back with no electronics 102 mph in the 1/8mile.You'd be too far back to even see the taillights.
As someone has already told you, Get real! We dont buy that BS.

Ok guys, I'm the guys brother that's been telling you all this stuff. I'm 16, he's 14. He just found this thread and started writing in it. Sorry about that. I read some stuff on here and I thought it was cool. But anyway, my name is Joe ... Looks like I'm the new member here :D But the IROC he's been talkin about is mine, and It did pull a 7.8 one time at the track here on slicks. My buddy took my car to his shop to prep it for paint, but his dad hooked up my 75 shot of nitrous (An ignored project), and messed with my timing (The man's a genius ... lol) Now when he drives it at the track, it usually will run consistent 8.2's with the nitrous. With a built 350. Lol, I can't get it to do anything, and I will not post my emberassing time on here ... Lol, It's got a little more than $3,000 put into it. Probably around $6,000. (I've worked with my dad since I was 13 mowin grass and when I turned 16 last November I had around $8,000, & I have alot of the money invested into the rotating assembly & rear-end too. I'll post what kinda rods, pistons, crank, and rear I have in here later. I'll give my drivetrain specifications, everything, that's just alot to list and I've already typed more then I want too. But It does have everything he said as far as the Edelbrock heads, & manifold. Except the heads have a port job on them, and the manifold is slick as hell, & about as thin as paper lol (Not literally, but you know.) That, and I have a 750 Speed Demon on top of it, with an Isky Hydraulic roller cam. The drivetrain works pretty nice, and the carb believe it or not, works just fine with the setup. I thought it was a bit much, but it was free. Other then that, I have subframe connectors, traction bars, and the car is completely gutted. I got one seat in it, & I have a little piece of rectangular sheet metal with all my guages tacked in there, and my tachometer hangs on the bottom of it. Maybe this will be a little more realistic for you guys :)
Now if you guys want some real bs ... bs, but very true bs. My dad has a 1978 Gremlin with a 326 chevy in it with a two barrell, no nitrous, or supercharger, and runs consistent 4.9's in the 8th ... I know that counts for something? lol, I have no clue what kinda' setup he has. I know he's not running pump gas ... but yeah ...

Come on man, I had a rear engine dragster that ran 5.0's in the eigth. I could have "steppped on it" a bit and got maybe a 4.90 and your dad runs that in a gremlin with a 326??????? Hopefully that was just your little brother day dreaming again!!!!!
Top Comp in IHRA is for cars running 4.0 to 6.40's in the eighth. Top Comp is the baddest of the bad for door slammers, diggers, and alterds in IHRA. Will that 326 (Whatever that is) Gremlin REALLY run with the big dogs????????

Gee Tech, you're right. I guess a 4.90 60 foot time would be good for a 326 gremlin. I'll bet it's his daily driver and gets 37 MPG, too !!!!

Bid you that two barrell is 1000 somethin cfm, and his whole car has been acid dipped ... the car weighs exactly 2200 lbs with my stepdad who weighs 230 lbs. Just show me how to put the links on here and i will show all of u that im not lying ... :) That's the whole fun of the car because NOONE believes it. They will all crowd around the car, and ask us where the nitrous is at, and they never believe its a two barrell carb, and they all leave with their jaws dropped ... its amazing lol
Anyway, I need some suggestions on a new project. I'm building a 383 stroker, and I wanted to set it up with pretty much Victor JR everything ... I am puttin the 383 in another Camaro i bought for a parts car, but I have just got the body work done and I have a brand new interior on the way. Anyway, if you guys could, give me some suggestions on what you think mite be a neat set-up for the car. Give me some ideas on your ideal street/strip car ... And give it a budget of $5,000 ... thought'd be cool.

Sorry Dude, you are busted. Mathematically it takes 1,095 horsepower to run an eight mile in 4.95 secs this will mile per hour at 139.4 mph in a 2200 pound car. To put this in another perspective, a 2200 pound car with the same 1095 horsepower would post a quarter mile time of 7.72 secs @174.3 mph. That would be a 600 horsepower small block with a 500 horsepower shot of nitrous all in a single stage from launch to chute. You better try your BS somewhere else, a lot of us have been around long enough to know BS when we here it.

Ok, this car has a 326. An old AMC Motor for you guys that don't know what that is. It's a 304 Bored out. Basically what it runs on is AV gas, and It's got interchanged parts from a 390. It has a two barrel carburetor, NO nitrous or any kind of forced induction. And nobody ever said I had a certain amount of horsepower. It was never dynoed. Anyway, this car ran 4.90's, and you can take your calculator and add up all you want but ... correct me if i'm wrong ... i think you were the one that said laughed when i said it was a 326 and didnt believe it ... go look up some old amc motors and maybe you'll learn a thing or two about em

Well, considering the fact that i knew nothing about AMC motors just like you didnt, its not so wrong that i thought it was a 327 chevy. Thats what i figured i'd tell you because you were like "326?" "what's that?" and you guys were like, maybe its a 327, which was logical to think if u had no clue what an AMC motor was. I just got done talkin to my dad about it to let u guys know about. What him and his buddy did was take a 1970 Gremlin, it had the stock original factory 304 in it with the stock 2 barrel carburetor, they bored it out to a 326 and interchanged parts inside it with 390 parts. It's ran with AV gas, and the carburetor was tweaked and puts out around 1000+ cfm. The whole engine was built around the cam ratio, and uh, if i had the specifications of the whole drivetrain, you could put them in your little calculator and then if it tells you im "lying" or "bs'ing" then so be it. And as far as the video goes i dont know how to get them on here, ill get back to you on that.

No way a reworked AMC 2 bbl carb will flow 1,000 CFM. No way 326 cubes will put out the 1,095 horsepower it would take to propel a 2200 pound car to 4.90's in the 1/8 mile which equates to a 7.72 1/4 mile time. I arrived at these numbers with software from Virtual Engine and DeskTop Dyno. You should start using some of this software before you make up these unbelievable and scientifically impossible stories. Best thing you could do now is just slither off and tell your lies elsewhere..........
