350 v8 bad lifter doesn't pump up, what next to do?
So if I have a bad lifter...is that difficult to replace? Can I just take the intake manifold off and pop out the bad lifter? What tools do I need? Maybe just heavier oil since it doesn't tap when engine is cold?

i had the same thing after i redid the heads on my 76 chevy. i think your only hope is to pull the intake of and replace the bum lifter. you wont need any special tools to do it , they pull right out.
i just thought of this, what if you try a heavier synthetic oil, its viscosity is always supposed to stay the same, it would be worth a try.Seth

A while ago, I had the same issue. I had gotten a tool from Snap on that goes down the pushrod hole, grabs the inner lip on the lifter and if there is no lifter ridge, the tool can come out. The same tool also installs the lifter. If it is a fresh rebuild, the ridge should have been reamed by pulling the lifters for the rebuild.
