In my experience, the best thing to do is just call the cam company or your local parts house and ask. At the parts store you can go in and look at what different, what will need stouter springs, what won't. They will usually give a description too, you know like, "street performance with slight lope", or "added performace with good mileage". If you call crane or lunati, someplace like that, and tell them what you're doing they will suggest a cam for you. There are a lot of little factors that can effect the final outcome, the cam guys know best.

hey Dawg... I just built a 383 for my Chevy... I used a CompCams Xtreme 4x4 cam... it's a great grind! I got the smallest one of the 4 choices, and it's plenty for a pickup. My truck also has a Weiand Stealth intake and headers, topped by a Demon carb. Once I get rid of the damn 3.08s this thing is really gonna haul!!

we're not here for a long time, but I'm here for a good time!
