head gasket coolant flow question
While removing my heads to do some work I noticed That the wholes from the block to the manifold coolant cross over are alot bigger then the wholes in the gasket. Is this done on purpose to restrict the flow? would making the gasket wholes bigger improve cooling? its a sbc by the way. just curious

LEAVE THE HOLES ALONE! Many hours have been spent developing the size and placement of those holes. If you open them up you will cause massive internal flow problems and uneven heat dissapation.

Bobs right....Those act like restrictors...just like the thermostat...If the holes are to big....coolant moves too fast thus not efficiently carrying away heat...
These hole are engineered to get the best most efficient heat dissipation and coolant heat absorbtion....
