generally speaking, for a stock chevy street head with the 1.95 intake and 1.5 exhaust valves .500 lift is the max you can go, because of stock port and valve restictions combined with the low to midrange engine revs required for street driving. Sure you can go to higher lifts but the ports just wont flow the air and you will wear out the valvetrain faster with those high lifts.
