Budget Motor
Alot of thinking went into my decision but the decideing factor was a friend that does heads gave me a set of 305 heads that was Tapped 168 with a 3 angle valve job (Cost: Free)
I do favors for the friend at times (Free towing of cars to his shop when they break down)
The 305 HO Block was sent to another machine shop...
Block Cleaned & Freeze plugs removed etc etc etc (Cost: $60.00)
Block Bored .30 Over & Honed (Cost: $80.00)
New Pistons (Cost: $80.00)
New Rings (Cost: $24.00)
Crank Kit (Cost: $115.00)
Old Rods cleaned, inspected, old pistons removed, new pistons installed (Cost: $128.00)
New Cam Bearings & New Freeze Plugs Installed (Cost: $44.00)
New Cam & Lifter Kit (Cost: $112.00)
New Timing Set & New Oil Pump (Cost: $55.00)
Total Cost So Far: $698.00
Future additions will be Headers & Mufflers, Elderbrock Intake & 650 CFM carb, Mallory Dual Point Distributor or HEI
