well you may not be very happy with rec ports you will have to change many thing to get the power out of the rec ports were now it sounds like it runs good . parts that you may need to see the REC ports to come alive more cam in lift and dur smaller lsa , better valve train .more stall . maybe more gear in back . intake .carb heads, and if it needs new pistons some bottom end work better oil pan .oil pan tray .then you can step up to the plate and throw a 4.250 crank in it and make a 489/496. ever one bad mouth small port heads but they make great TQ and that is what your feeling . the rec ports are going to start getting legs about 4000.rpm and up .not to many places your going to twist a street car past 6000 grand ? i would take very small steps maybe some low buck work first to see where you end up. cars with peanut ports have ran in the tens. but then they were maybe $2000+ a copy 20 years ago
