I'm thinking "deso" = "Denso" as in Nippondenso... Heat range to equal what the "books" show for the stock plug in a 1973 BBC 454.
5/8 thread, short reach with a taper seat.
Champ could be Champ brand or Champion brand plugs..
I like an AC brand or Bosch in comparison.. but to each their own! LOL..

The "Denso" makes sense as you explain it. I'm familiar with "heat range" on plugs, but didn't see any reference to 1973 in the question, so the numbers didn't really make sense to me. "Champ" and "AC" were no issue, but "Tapper" thrown in was enough to put me in a tailspin . Thanks, Mike.Last edited by rspears; 05-22-2013 at 11:13 AM.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
