ok, here are the questions. I originally wanted to start with a new block, but i can't seem to find one for less than $2k. I also really like the sound of thumpr cams, so does anyone know much about them?

Long story short, i have no idea what to put in this motor, and am looking for some guidance. Any and all help would be much appreciated!
I have a new 540 in which we used a new GM 502 Block, and we bought it new from John Elway Chevrolet (used to be Burt Chevrolet) for about $1800.00-wish you were closer, I have an almost new Gen VI 454 Block, forged Crank (and Edelbrock Heads) that I would sell very reasonably-

At any rate, you will get a lot of suggestions on whose/which parts to run, and there are very many recipes for doing this-you could get that kind of horsepower easy with the right GM oval-port Heads, good Intake and reasonable Cam and Compression-

Are you going to build this yourself or have it built? Pat McCarthy on here is a great Engine Builder, and could build a 500 h.p. Big Block blindfolded with both hands tied behind his back (on Sunday in a Snowstorm)!

IMHO, Thumpr Cams are for people who don't really understand performance, but want the sound of performance-while I think it is an ok Cam, there are many better ones out there-

Here is where I had my Engine built, and I could also highly recommend him (as well as Pat)-

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Thanks, George. I'm wanting to build this motor myself. It seems that i can get a crate for roughly the same price it would cost to build one myself, but i would still like the experience.
