    Exclamation 10-71 Blown 511BBC

The Racers Math Handbook & Car Craft mag have forumulas to figure boost for Roots Blowers based on Displacement of the Supercharger * % Over/Under Driven*25.58/Engine Displacement -14.7.

Looks like I need a 10-71 as at 1:1 on a 511 it creates 10.2 lbs of boost.

After attending Federated Auto Parts event at Summit I met afew Roots Blower affecionados and it seems a 480-511 Supercharged BBC Engine is a match for a N/A 496-565 CID BBC.

It seems like it would be easy to make 770-900 HP/ w or w/o Intercooler with a 10-71 but could a Tall Deck 427 Truck block take this abuse( Street&Drag)?

you do not need a 1071 build the bottom end with abit more CR it takes power to turn the big blower if just for strip use you can build a engine with a bigger blower but you better be thiniking real good heads.i should be running 10 of boost with my b&M blower on my 548 just never could check boost and hang on at the same time.,the truck block can take 770+ hp with some prep work . even more but gets to a point were a new block looks good .agood lined 871 is all you need

Scroll down to the last chart on this page. Blower Drive Service is producing 10 lbs on a 500 at 1:1 with a Stage 2 8-71.

    Exclamation

Looks like the 427 Tall Deck Truck block will be good enough.

I would like to run a water/air intercooler under the 8-71, but I hear you can lose 1-6 LBs of boost, does the cooler air offset this loss?

Using E-85 as fuel, & a water/air intercooler could I run a higher Static CR ( not the usual 6-8.25:1 CR) like 10.25-11.25:1?

your runing a very low cr and making it up with boost=heat =loss of power the way i have built them is start at 9to1 or abit more and then add boost to that starting at 7to1 is way to low and the 1-6? of boost who cares ?? your loosing moreHP spining the bigger blower you may see cooler intake charge but like i said i ran the smaller blowers on big engines a lined 871 will do the job very good .. so less its all out drag car your looking at a way i never did. i built about 12 or more blower engines and they all worked very good i can give you a ride in a car that makes low boost and runs very good like blows the tires off at 100
