    Rev Limit On 454 j

Does anyone know what the rev limit on a stock 1997 454 J? The RPM gauge on this suburban does not have the normal yellow warning or red on it. I have read on some web sites 6500-7000 but that seems high for stock to me. I don’t think I will be hitting either any time soon but was curious.

I have no idea of the components in the motor, but I would be surprised if they were chosen by the engineers with much more than about 5500 rpm's in mind when they put the package together. Small intake runners in the heads, short cam, restricted induction package, etc.

It's not made for high RPMs in stock form for sure. Rotating assembly is heavy.
