Remove the evaporator or not?
Another question for you professionals… The AC does not work. I do not intend to fix it, rather remove the compressor and install a dummy pulley. The evaporator (ac radiator) is massive. It covers all but about 1” of the normal radiator. Since I do not intend to fix the ac would it be any benefit to remove the evaporator or will it make any real difference? It’s not the easiest thing to get out so if it won’t help anything then why bother. The oil cooler is off to the side but I may have to remove the tranny cooler to get it all the way out. My thoughts on removing it is it would make room to install electric fan in it’s place for future use.
This comes about because I was looking into why the small electric fan in front of the evaporator never came on. I found the motor was froze up. Replacing it is $70.00 but with no working ac I don’t see the point.

Well, removing it will give you more airflow to the radiator, and from the looks of it there is a lot of debris on it that you could blow/vacuum out to help that also. But if it doesn't overheat now it won't be a problem just leaving it in place. I've had cars where I just left it and it cooled ok as that is how it was designed from the factory if the air conditioning was functioning.

OK....OK. It was late and I was sleepy. Sorry. At least I didnt call it "that thingy". LOL
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
