JMO, but I prefer to zero deck the block rather then just making a clean up cut on it. Much better way to get your squish correct and set the compression ratio to what you want. Also, with all the recent cam problems with oil lacking zinc and wiping the lobes off, I'd definitely be going for a hydraulic roller cam!!! Costs more up front, but the end result will be much better performance!!!
As for the good old 3310 Holley, I've used them on many street cars and with a bit of tuning and tweaking they will work great! To save yourself some time when the engine is all done and you're doing a bit of "performance testing"
, the quick change kit for the secondary spring is a very handy item!!!!
Also, some quality built headers and exhaust system proper sized will also help a lot with the performance---and make it sound wicked, too!!!!!!
