How do I know which length fuel pump pushrod?

First I'd like to state I think there should be a special forum section for silly little questions like mine that automatically are deleted after a week or so.

I have a 427/454 ( still not sure, looked and didn't see anything on the flywheel that struck me as a balancer, and being a novice have no idea what exactly to look for). and it was setup with the fuel pump mount capped and ready for an electric fuel pump. I have a mechanical fuel pump to install, a nice edelbrock pump, but the pushrod is missing.

all this to ask a simple question, which length? 5.75 or 5.95"? is there a way to tell?

    will this one work?

use the bronze tip one if you think you have a steel core billet cam roller cam most steel cores are for solid roller cam .i have had steel cores made for hyd roller cams gm made some as well .so if there no lash could be a hyd iron core cam if has lash could be a flat lifter cam or steel core roller cam a sbc or bbc pump rod is the same size thats 5.750 . so you should know what you have for a cam .i would use the bronze tip one and call it good .less you pull in intake off and look down it to see if you a roller cam or not?as for the weight on the fly wheel its welded on by the ring gear or could use a bolt on balance plate if you look on e bay .summit .jegs will show you a photo of the 454 fly.or go to the parts store see if they have one and look at it .

My uncle said there is no lash that it must be a hyd cam. Thanks a lot pat, I'm going to take a look for pics and check that flywheel again. In the meantime I'll order the bronze tipped 5.75.

well if you are sure buy the hollow tube steel tip one .stock ones are ok .but for very hi rpm i do not care for the added mass of the soild pump push rod .there not much , so i started to used them many years ago .but if just a hyd low rpm solid stock gm is fine .should not be hard to pick up
