    219 heads

So I pulled a valve cover on my 454 and found i have 3917219 heads. I have never been inside this motor, so a casting number is all i have. does anyone have any info on these heads? They have truck cast into the head so I assume they are big chamber truck heads. Is there any performance potential here or should i just find a better casting number. I need to stick with a stock casting or I would just go aluminum.

Several sources show the following for this part number:

    1968-85 oval ports Open Chamber 366T, 427T
    1966-70 oval ports Closed Chamber 366/427 2.06 1.72

Common thread is that they're truck heads - probably not a lot of big HP here. Pat's the expert with BB Chevy's.

    Good Luck,

    i need a gm casting

the class i race in needs a factory casting number or i would go aftermarket. this engine ran great but it is 5 seasons old and getting a little tired. my plan is to freshen this motor then use one of my other blocks for a 496. the guy who built this engine says these heads are the stock valves. I was just wondering if 219's will fit.

glenn look them up if your block is mark 4 and heads are they will fit. bigger valves or better flowing valves with 11/32 stems with a 3-D seat cutter setup for seat work with a bowl job some chamber work they should be ok
