if your going just to drive it at low speed stop and go and low rpm i would look at the cam i email you your engine is small cid. if a 454+ i would say ok .the 396 can i feel can be over cam ez so at the bottom it will be a pig. if you want to stay on the rpm all the time you could go big? if that is what your looking for ? i do not know. but we talk about the core regrind i did say if they say they can do it . then have them grind them numbers should be ok . will it be the best cam to do the job at hand ? no if you never get past 2000 rpms . carb is to big. you truck is heavy so with more stall to make your carb work and make the cam work better more gear more rpms may be hard on parts. i would only grind a cam for max tq
