    talldeck intake question.

Alright... I plan on installing the adapter setup and an aluminum intake on my talldeck 427(gm). What kind of issues should I expect with my distributor? Will my stock distributor fit? its the plain ol points style with the electronic adapter setup. I would like to run an aftermarket hei setup anyway, so could I just get any hei distributor for a big block or MUST I have a slip collar?

If you use the spacer plates so the ports line up you will need to use a distri with a slip collar--sbc and bbc can use the same dist. You are lucky that you can just buy a slip collar dist these days as back in the day, we had to build them

What if you measure a stock distributor from the top of the gear to the bottom of the collar, and just add whatever thickness the spacer is, to set the slip collar by. I don't know if this will work, just a guess.
Let me know how it works out, I've got 2 tall-deck 427's that I'm gonna build up someday.

what do you need to know ? i cut dist down you can buy a shaft collar or make one that will be your slip collar i cut down msd and mags for use in tall decks with a slip collar .use layout on the dist gear you want a good contack in the center of the dist gear. for starters i pull the slip collar all the way up set dist in make sure your in the oil drive push down the collar to the intake then put a thick dist gasket under the dist and check the print out on the gear some intakes are cut in the well for stock dist to
